Laptop for each Professional (LFEP) Initiative

eLABs is one of main stakeholders in “Laptop for each Professional” initiative. eLABs’ role is supplying high quality business software applications to be included as an integral part of the package provided to the professionals. Unlike the conventional software OEM business model, where end-users get a predefined set of software packages installed on his/her Laptop, eLABs introduced a new mechanism giving end-users the full freedom to choose -from their own perspectives- the most beneficial software applications at a friction of their retail price. The proposed software packages cover a multitude of categories of great interest to the Egyptian professionals.

The mechanism mainly depends on a predefined-value voucher and a comprehensive e-catalogue. The e-catalogue is always updated and contains more than 38 different software applications serving different industries. These applications previously accepted and approved by eLABs QA/QC committee, according to transparent and methodical criteria covering both technical and business-related capabilities of the suppliers. The end-user decides which applications are of interest, throughout the e-catalogue and within the voucher value, and places his/her order to eLABs. Subsequently, eLABs ships the selected titles to the end-user via first-class courier, free of charge, against receipt of the voucher. Moreover, eLABs guarantees the quality of the software purchased and furnishes after-sales & technical support services to the end-users, via its qualified call centre operators. This approach empowers the end-users to choose the most fitting solutions, according to their real needs. As well, it helps eLABs members in specific and the Egyptian software industry in general through stimulating the market and establishing new channels for increasing revenues and growth.

PC for Each Home (PCFEH) Initiative

In accordance with the national goal of developing the Information Technology and Communication (ICT) business sector, the Egyptian government represented by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) has launched a "PC for Every Home" Initiative on November 2002, providing PCs to the Home users in an affordable way. This initiative allowed a multitude of families to own a PC at affordable monthly installments, making the state-of-the art technology within everyone's reach and reaffirming MCIT support of the ICT sector.

eLABs, as one of the initiative’s main stakeholders, took the initiative a further step by providing high quality software bundles to be included as an integral part of the package. Unlike the conventional software OEM business model, where end-users get a predefined set of software packages installed on his PC, eLABs introduced a new mechanism giving end-users the full freedom to choose -from their own perspectives- the most beneficial software applications at a friction of their retail price. The proposed software packages cover a multitude of categories & titles of great interest to the Egyptian home end-users.

The mechanism mainly depends on a predefined-value voucher and a comprehensive catalogue. The catalogue is always updated and contains more than 500 different titles in different categories, which previously accepted and approved by eLABs QA/QC committee, according to transparent and methodical criteria covering both technical and business-related capabilities of the suppliers. The end-user decides which of titles are of interest, throughout the catalogue and within the voucher value, and places his/her order to eLABs.
